Mechanical Assembler
Job Description
- Assemble, repair, and inspect welding equipment and rail pullers.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
- Use a variety of tools and testing equipment to service welding equipment.
- Perform mechanical testing on components as directed by program specifications.
- Operate automatic flash-butt welding equipment during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
- Restore worn or damaged components to standard operating conditions.
- Build and test hydraulic manifolds.
- Set up and confirm functionality of welding equipment after assembly or repair.
- Perform MIG and stick welding during fabrication processes.
- Deliver on-time, high-quality products to customers.
- Ensure welding equipment produces welds compliant with industry specifications.
- Collaborate with suppliers and other departments to verify correct equipment functionality.
- Train new employees on repair and assembly practices.
- Participate in technical training programs as needed.
- Maintain and enforce shop safety protocols and ensure clean, organized work areas.
- Accurately complete shop paperwork and follow work instructions.
- Assist engineering teams with processes including ECRs, NCRs, OFIs, and procedure development.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to work with voltages ranging from 480V to 5 volts.
- Experience using micrometers, digital voltmeters, and other precision instruments.
- Proficiency in MIG and stick welding.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to inspect and verify work.
- Competence in reading and interpreting schematics and technical specifications.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards.
