Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Prototype Machinist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes and mills, working closely with customers to develop innovative products. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of machining experience, a commitment to quality, and the ability to work with close-tolerance machining.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills for prototype development.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions on materials as a guide for machining.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and attachments for various machines, including mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • Calculate and set controls for speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut, using manual settings or computerized control commands.
  • Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, making necessary adjustments.
  • Verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications and blueprints.
  • Conduct trial runs to ensure accuracy in machine settings and programmed control data.
  • Fit and assemble machined parts into complete assemblies, ensuring proper dimensions and alignment.
  • Install machined replacement parts in mechanisms and test operation to ensure performance.
  • Train and mentor junior machinists, sharing knowledge and best practices.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • 10+ years of experience in machining, with expertise in CNC lathes and mills.
  • Strong understanding of close-tolerance machining.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Experience setting up tooling, fixtures, and machine controls for precise machining.
  • Ability to work with various materials, including metals and plastics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to train and mentor junior team members.
