Controls Engineer
Job Description
Salary: $90,000–$120,000/year
- Analyze plant processes and identify opportunities to improve productivity through automation and emerging technology
- Design, implement, and maintain automation, robotics, vision systems, and control systems
- Develop, write, modify, and review PLC programs and ladder logic
- Troubleshoot automation, robotics, vision systems, and control systems to ensure reliability
- Develop Preventative Maintenance strategies and key spare-parts systems
- Support TPM programs for critical automation equipment
- Stay current on industry advancements and leverage new technology to enhance plant operations
- Manage multiple technical projects simultaneously
- Partner with vendors for equipment selection and integration
- Review 3rd-party integrators and ensure effective system performance
- Maintain clean, accurate technical documentation
- Ensure strict adherence to company procedures, processes, and system requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing
- 5+ years designing, implementing, and maintaining automation and control systems in manufacturing
- Strong technical foundation and passion for manufacturing technology
- Proficiency with electronics, mechanics, robotics, vision systems, and PLC programming
- Skilled in AutoCAD and reading/drafting electrical diagrams
- Strong cause-effect analytical skills and problem-solving ability
- Experience with manufacturing processes in a technical plant environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to lead within cross-functional teams
- Strong time-management and organizational skills
- Knowledge of NEC, ANSI B11, OSHA, and robotic safety standards
- Independent judgment and ability to prioritize multiple projects
