Job Summary:
The role is responsible for preforming a variety of duties to maintain, install, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment according to safety procedures as well as support business objectives of the Company.
Job Duties:
- Completes advanced electrical work orders like 3 phase 480 v through 24 v for process and controls
- Completes advanced plumbing skills like repairs and installs plumbing fixtures including copper piping
- Completes advanced carpentry skills like fabricates and finishes wood products
- Completes advanced painting paint/repair skills like the upkeep of facility appearance including painting and drywall repair, signage installation, replacing lighting throughout and minor ceiling and floor repairs
- Conducts advanced troubleshooting - diagnose and resolve mechanical, plumbing, office, Argus, HVAC and electrical issues throughout the campus
- Creates special fixtures or modify existing equipment with the use of grinders, arc welder, etc.
- Conducts routine PM inspections of facilities; identify issues and promptly report defects or adverse conditions to the Facilities Supervisor
- Responds to employee/building/facilities inquiries and complaints through work orders, ensuring timely and quality service delivered to staff
- Maintains and perform repairs on building equipment and auxiliary systems, including boilers, HVAC and Argus units; trouble-shoot issues and help perform routing preventive/scheduled maintenance activities
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, drawings, wiring schematic diagrams, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service; prepare accurate work orders including time spent and materials used
- Utilizes basic computer skills on applicable systems including inputting air handle schedules and making temperature changes – Argus/ICT
- Responds to orders and aids in upkeep of Life Safety Operations (Fire Suppression Systems, Fire Detection Systems)
- Maintains safe, clean, & well-organized work areas
- Assists with all additional duties specific to the Facilities Department on site or on call
- Performs other duties as requested
Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED. Post – secondary education preferred (i.e., technical or vocational education)
- 3 - 5 years’ relevant work experience in the facilities area; knowledge of general mechanical skills and practices; completion of an apprenticeship will be highly considered
- Demonstrated electric skill of 480 v 3 phase, 24 v control loops, HVAC, PLCs, VFDs, motors, commercial power lighting and distribution
- Must either have or be able to obtain HVAC – EPA Section 608 Universal Certification and Forklift certification within 6 months of employment
- Experience with plumbing/pipe fitting PVC, copper, roughing in and installation of faucets and toilets
- Knowledge of tools to fabricate, finish wood products, upkeep of facility appearance including painting and drywall repair, signage installation, replacing lighting throughout and minor ceiling and floor repairs
- Understanding or background in Life Safety Operations needed. (Fire Suppression Systems, Fire Detection Systems for the campus)
- Knowledge of R.O. system and boiler burner management controls
- Basic math and computer skills
- Must be able to prioritize work orders based on safety and production needs.
- Must have strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, walk, for extended periods of time.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
