Job Title: Utilities Maintenance Technician
Location: Swedesboro, NJ
Shift Schedule: 3rd Shift 2-2-3 schedule - 12-hour shift (6:00 pm - 6:00 am)
Target Pay Rate:$34/hr-37/hr
The Maintenance Technician III is responsible for ensuring the continuous operation and maintenance of a wide range of facility systems and equipment, including refrigeration, HVAC, boilers, electrical distribution, and safety systems. This role involves performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and coordinating with both internal and external resources to keep all systems running efficiently. The technician also plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with safety and environmental regulations, emergency response, and contributing to overall operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain various equipment including ammonia refrigeration systems, Freon packaged refrigeration units, HVAC, steam boilers, thermal oil boilers, hot water generators, thermal oxidizers, compressed air systems, electrical distribution equipment, building sprinkler systems, and other assigned equipment.
- Support continuous operation of facility utility systems to meet production schedule demands and facility conditions.
- Coordinate maintenance efforts with internal teams and external resources.
- Assist in developing environmental programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Support recordkeeping and training requirements related to Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) compliance.
- Provide real-time technical analysis on refrigeration and operational equipment status.
- Take a leadership role in the emergency response team for hazardous chemical releases.
- Maintain boiler cooling tower chemistry and ensure safe boiler operation.
- Ensure energy-efficient and safe operation of ammonia compressors.
- Perform preventative maintenance to maintain equipment in optimal working condition.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing systems.
- Utilize technical documentation and vendor diagrams to complete preventative maintenance (PM) tasks related to equipment overhauls and repairs.
- Respond to and resolve maintenance emergencies as needed.
- Maintain compliance with quality assurance, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), safety regulations, and other company and governmental standards.
- Keep work areas clean and organized, including maintaining tools and equipment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must hold relevant state of New Jersey licenses for hazardous refrigeration and high-pressure steam systems. A valid driver’s license is required.
- Basic knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is preferred.
- Knowledge of industrial utility systems, equipment setup, and preventative maintenance techniques.
- Familiarity with FDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and sanitation procedures.
- Understanding of state and federal safety and environmental regulations.
- Knowledge of best practices in energy management and maintenance safety.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to disassemble and reassemble equipment.
