Job Summary:
  • We are seeking a Maintenance Technician for our USDA production environment, responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining food processing and packaging machinery, mechanical/utility equipment, buildings, and office facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and electrical maintenance in the food manufacturing industry, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently and within a team.

Job Duties:
  • Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain food processing and packaging machinery, mechanical/utility equipment, buildings, and office facilities in a USDA production environment.
  • Perform assigned tasks while adhering to established standards of workmanship and safety.
  • Ensure the safe and dependable operating condition of all equipment in the facility.
  • Set up, troubleshoot, and repair stacking, bagging, check-weighing, UPC bar coding, case erectors, and conveyor equipment.
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment for repairs, cleaning, and lubrication according to established maintenance schedules.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair 110/230/460 volt electrical equipment, including motors, starters, relays, timers, panels, breakers, conduit, and wiring.
  • Read and interpret Electrical Control schematics for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Perform minor programming and troubleshooting of VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers).
  • Understand and adhere to established safety programs, including lockout/tagout and ladder safety.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels within the maintenance and operating departments.
  • Provide rapid response when equipment malfunctions or breaks down.
  • Ensure that all equipment is ready for production.
  • Maintain the building in compliance with city and fire regulations.
  • Assist in coaching and training maintenance and operating personnel.
  • Fabricate parts and modify equipment as required.
  • Uphold, follow, and maintain the requirements of the SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacturing.

Qualifications:
  • High school degree, or equivalent.
  • Reading, writing, and basic math skills are required.
  • Possess strong language skills (verbal and written) to interpret procedures, comprehend instructions, and communicate effectively with others.
  • Be self-motivated, a self-starter, and self-directed to work without close supervision in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated hardworking, dependable, safety-conscious, and quality-conscious mindset.
  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Available to work any shift, as required.
  • Proficient in the proper and safe use of hand and power tools and working on machinery.
