Title: Maintenance Supervisor 
Location: Chicago Heights, IL
Hire Type: Direct Hire 
Shift & Hours: 1st shift  - 6pm to 3am 
Pay Rate: $90K-$105K 
Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401K  
 

Maintains systems and equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules, restoring, repairing, rebuilding, or replacing faulty or inoperative components and parts, and supervising staff.

Key Accountabilities
  • Ensure products meet company standards and specifications.
  • Complete, legible, and accurate documentation.
  • Follow all company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Maintain daily compliance with Food Safety and Quality Standard Requirements.
  • Adhere to company policies regarding Allergen, Food Defense, and HACCP.
  • Communicate Food Safety and equipment concerns to supervision.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for assigned work areas.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Handle equipment responsibly and maintain cleanliness of work areas and machinery.
  • Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary.
  • Report any unsafe practices or injuries to the supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Supply and maintain personal basic hand tools.
  • Ensure constant presence on the production floor to identify potential machinery issues.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in maintaining the facility and equipment in a safe, operational state of readiness to meet daily production requirements.
  • Supervise the preventative maintenance program, including lubrication, inspections, and engineering sanitation schedules, to minimize production downtime.
  • Participate in the selection, training, and development of engineering department staff.
  • Schedule engineering staff to support production and non-production hours.
  • Maintain the engineering department’s shop and equipment.
  • Assist in purchasing and maintaining proper inventory levels of equipment spare parts.
  • Consult with the Maintenance Manager on long- and short-term improvement needs.
  • Manage the engineering department within policy and budgetary guidelines.
  • Facilitate open communication with subordinates and department heads to address equipment problems promptly.
  • Maintain comprehensive engineering records, including preventative maintenance manuals and capital expenditure requests.
  • Support quality control programs to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment alongside maintenance techs.
  • Perform machine PMs with maintenance techs to improve machine reliability.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.
Skills, Experience, & Qualifications
  • Relevant technical knowledge and high-level safety awareness.
  • Strong clerical ability and effective communication skills.
  • Experience in supervision, staffing, customer service, strategic planning, troubleshooting, technical understanding, leadership, and equipment maintenance.
Preferred:
  • Additional formal training in maintenance or related technical fields.
  • Experience in the food industry.
