Overview:
Sterling Engineering is partnering with a new client in the North Chicagoland suburbs to hire an experienced CNC Maintenance Technician for their facility in Skokie, IL. This organization is part of a global industrial manufacturing group that produces highly engineered products used in demanding industrial environments.
This role is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting CNC machinery, as well as supporting facility mechanical and electrical systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience working with CNC machining centers, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance programs in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC machinery and facility systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance (PM) including lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, and maintaining accurate TPM records according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical systems, including disassembly and replacement of bearings, gears, and structural components.
- Identify equipment issues by observing machinery in operation and gathering input from machine operators and production staff.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments, gauges, power tools, and hand tools to complete maintenance tasks.
- Provide emergency or unscheduled repairs to restore production equipment quickly and safely.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and root cause analysis of equipment failures.
- Review service requests for repairs and determine the appropriate course of action for maintenance solutions.
- Assist with the movement and setup of equipment and facility fixtures as needed.
- Maintain and support facility plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems as required.
- Perform required preventative maintenance tasks including cleaning, lubrication, and component replacement.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 5+ years of maintenance troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience maintaining CNC machining centers preferred, including brands such as:
- Mazak
- Nakamura
- Samsung
- Okuma
- DMG Mori
- Experience working with PLC systems and AC/DC motors and drives.
- Knowledge of electrical wiring, circuits, and schematics.
- Experience supporting industrial electrical systems related to machinery.
