Sterling Engineering is looking for an Maintenance Manager for a growing manufacturer near Melrose Park, IL that is building out new product lines and breaking innovative barriers in the packaging space. Job Duties:
  • Supervise and provide daily guidance to Maintenance shift personnel.
  • Communicate business and maintenance issues to department personnel.
  • Interpret and enforce company policies and professional standards.
  • Collaborate with team to identify and solve maintenance issues (short- and long-term).
  • Interact with other departments and support groups.
  • Suggest improvements in working conditions and equipment usage to increase efficiency.
  • Manage and complete technical projects as needed (from Maintenance Project List).
  • Develop team members’ skills to enhance efficiency.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems; assist workers in problem-solving.
  • Implement plans to motivate team to meet goals.
  • Support improvements in Troubleshooting, Preventive Maintenance, and Training.
  • Supervise in accordance with policies and laws (hiring, training, performance appraisals, discipline, resolving issues).

Qualifications:
  • Preferred: College degree in Business Admin, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; lean certification; 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Supervisory, lean, and ISO experience a plus; plastics industry preferred.
  • Additional education in quality, safety, or mechanical/electrical areas preferred.
  • Preferred certifications: Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, ASQ Quality Engineering, Lean Manufacturing.
  • Experience with plastic extrusion/injection molding is preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy, people-oriented environment.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing setting.
