Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance operations of our facility in Gurnee, IL. This hands-on leadership role will oversee a skilled maintenance team, manage capital projects, and ensure high performance in mechanical, electrical, and facility operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise the maintenance team to ensure optimal performance and continuous development.
  • Develop and implement effective preventative maintenance schedules and systems to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct routine inspections of machinery, equipment, and facility systems to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure compliance with USDA and FDA requirements related to maintenance and sanitation standards.
  • Manage departmental budget and inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Oversee and execute capital projects including cost analysis, planning, vendor coordination, and implementation.
  • Support energy cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain automated systems using PLCs and low-voltage electrical applications.
  • Coordinate with other departments to minimize production disruptions and ensure effective project execution.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to maintenance activities, equipment repairs, and project outcomes.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of maintenance management or engineering experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • CMMS and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) systems
    • Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of high-speed packaging equipment
    • PLCs, logic controllers, and automated systems
    • Budgeting and cost-benefit analysis for capital projects
    • Refrigeration systems (preferred)
  • Familiarity with USDA/FDA regulated facilities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general PC usage.
