Title:  3rd shift Line Mechanic
Location:  Summit IL        
Pay Rate: Union $36.20/hr.

We are seeking a Line Mechanic to join our team. The Line Mechanic will be responsible for the daily repair and maintenance of plant mechanical systems and equipment. Starting positions are expected to work on the 3rd shift (11 PM to 7 AM CST, Monday-Friday). There may be a need to work any off-shift, with shift pay differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts. Weekend shifts may also be required. This position offers a set starting hourly pay rate as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

What You'll Do:
  • Install and set up machinery and equipment within the facility.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on facility machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and repair facility machinery to minimize downtime.
  • Write and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
  • Repair heavy-duty and precision equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Handle repairs necessary to keep machinery running smoothly.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and make repairs as needed.
  • Complete daily maintenance tasks, work orders, and emergency repair logs.
  • Communicate effectively with operators from all shifts regarding equipment issues.
  • Maintain and secure work tools.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Ensure proper lockout/tagout procedures are followed for equipment not in use.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) policies and regulations.
  • Notify management of any changes in equipment or operational conditions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
What You'll Need:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
  • 3 to 5 years of industrial experience, preferably in food manufacturing or packaging.
  • Journeyman Mechanic skills required.
  • Advanced training in mechanical systems, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems, plumbing, and piping.
  • Basic knowledge of industrial electrical systems is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Manual dexterity to operate machinery and computers.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds as required.
