Job Description
Position Overview:
Join our team as a Machinist where your skills in machine tool operation, technical problem-solving, and mentorship will be key to our production success. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented and experienced in setting up, operating, and maintaining machine tools. You'll be pivotal in ensuring precision, efficiency, and high standards in our machining processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Setup and Operation:
- Set up and operate various machine tools including mills, lathes, grinders, and drill presses.
- Interpret blueprints to machine metallic and nonmetallic parts with precise tolerances.
- Calculate and adjust feeds and speeds to optimize cutting conditions.
- Programming and Data Management:
- Import CAD data and use CAM software to program CNC machining centers.
- Translate design specifications into accurate machine operations.
- Maintenance and Housekeeping:
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on machines to ensure they remain in peak condition.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area adhering to 5S standards.
- Collaboration and Training:
- Work closely with machining mentors to solve technical problems.
- Assist and mentor entry-level machinists to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Communication:
- Communicate technical information clearly to machinists and managers.
- Document machine performance, production issues, and any anomalies.
Requirements:
- Experience:
- 1-3 years of industrial machining experience preferred.
- Completion of a 4-year apprenticeship program or 16,000 hours of combined education and experience required.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient with lathe, mill, grinder, and drill press operations.
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, OneNote).
- Educational Background:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
