We’re looking for a skilled Manual Machinist/Toolmaker who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in craftsmanship, and collaborates closely with engineers and machine builders to bring custom solutions to life.
Job Duties:
Set up and operate conventional/manual machines to fabricate metal and non-metal parts—often one-of-a-kind
- Work from blueprints, sketches, sample parts, or verbal instructions (sometimes without a net!)
- Interpret dimensions, tolerances, setups, and machining sequences with confidence
- Calculate and adjust speeds, feeds, coolant flow, and depth/angle of cut
- Monitor machining operations and make real-time adjustments to maintain tight tolerances
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools to ensure exact conformance
- Partner with engineers, machine builders, programmers, and fellow craftsmen to solve complex challenges
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED, plus apprenticeship, trade school, or vocational training
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a machinist or toolmaker
- Strong ability to read blueprints, machine dial gauges, and precision measuring instruments
- Solid understanding of materials, including machinability, stresses, heat treating, and stress-relieving processes
- A detail-oriented mindset and a commitment to quality and accuracy
