Machinist - Industrial Power Saw Operator

Job Description
· Set-up and operate various sizes and types of power saws to cut materials (primarily metal) to meet required engineering drawings, shop orders, and instructions and production schedule(s)
· Receive, move, and stage raw material in proper locations.
· Deduct inventory in ERP system
· Read and interpret engineering drawings and or work instruction
· Receive, store and inventory raw materials according to size and type
· Ability to move parts and equipment safely
· Preparation of material for cutting (measured to drawing required sizes)
· Adjust equipment to obtain the best cut requirements and economy
· Use saw manufacturer’s recommended procedure to properly perform cutting operations.
· Perform prescribed operator and preventive maintenance on machines as required by PM schedule
· Read, interpret, and apply documents such as: safety manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, diagrams, procedure manual
· Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition
· Other duties assigned by Management
· Proficient at reading, interpreting engineering drawings, cut orders and routers
· Strong ability to use hand held measuring instruments (tape measure and calipers)
· Strong knowledge in sawing raw materials
· Proficient at material handling
· Accurate saw operation, first time right
· Strong ability to rig with use of cranes
· Ability to communicate well verbally and written
· Intermediate user level proficiency of Microsoft Outlook, Office, and ERP system
Valued Skill/Qualifications:
· Ability to work well in a team setting
· Time Management
Education and Work Experience:
· Minimum 2 years experience as a power saw operator
· Experienced crane and rigging (certification preferred)
Physical Requirements:
· This position will require long periods of standing with frequent walking, bending, crouching, kneeling and reaching. Also required is to use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls
· The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
Personal Protective Equipment while working in Shop or Field Areas:
· Safety glasses or safety side shields w/glasses
· Shoes
o Safety toed (steel) shoes when required
o Closed toes and heels
o Low heels
· Hard hat in designated areas or when crane is in use
· Hearing, Respiratory, and Face Shields where applicable
Work Conditions:
· Work environment tends to be fast paced. Frequent and direct interaction may include internal and external customers.
· While performing the duties of this job in the manufacturing area, the position requires occasional exposed to:
· Vibration
· Loud noise levels
· Moving parts
· Artificial lighting
· Manufacturing Debris
