Job Description
Position: Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer
Location: Waukegan, IL 60087 onsite daily - Local candidates preferred
Duration: 12-36 months
Pay Rate $80.00 - $105.00 per hour
I am looking for a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer with 10+ years of experience supporting complex industrial manufacturing environments.
In this role you will be the SME and serve as the technical lead for process instrumentation and control systems, ensuring systems are properly specified, installed, integrated, and commissioned within active production environments.
This is a hands-on role supporting CAPEX projects, field execution, commissioning, and startup. The ideal candidate is experienced in live plant environments and understands how to protect project timelines while maintaining safety, compliance, and operational reliability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Instrumentation & Controls
- Lead selection and sizing of instrumentation and I&C components
- Develop and review instrument loop diagrams, I/O lists, and control narratives
- Perform power and load calculations
- Support hazardous area considerations where applicable
- Ensure instrumentation aligns with process and safety requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Must have Instrumentation & Controls engineering
- Strong hands-on PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley platforms)
- Experience with SCADA / HMI systems
- Electrical system design experience
- Must have commissioning and startup experience in live production environments
- Must have Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, Automotive, Packaging, or Industrial Manufacturing environments
- Safety PLC systems
- Multi-cell production system commissioning
- Experience working in regulated environments
