Job Summary:
- We are seeking a skilled Forklift Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The Forklift Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting our fleet of forklifts to ensure they operate safely and efficiently, supporting our food production and distribution operations.
Job Duties:
- Perform routine maintenance on forklifts, including inspections, lubrication, and adjustments to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Work on a variety of forklifts, including standup, sit down, cherry pickers, reach trucks, and clamp trucks, primarily Crowns.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues with forklifts promptly to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks according to schedule, such as replacing filters, belts, and fluids, to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment life.
- Troubleshoot and resolve forklift malfunctions and performance issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including parts usage, labor hours, and equipment history, using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Collaborate with other maintenance team members and production staff to prioritize and coordinate repairs based on operational needs.
- Comply with all safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in diesel mechanics, automotive technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a forklift mechanic or in a similar role, with expertise in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Strong knowledge of forklift operations and components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and steering systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or overtime as needed to support production schedules and emergency repairs.
