Fixture Designer
Job Description
Location: Bolingbrook, IL 60440
Pay Rate: $40–$50/hour (based on experience)
Hours: 40 hours/week
Hire Type: Contract (6 months, potential to extend)
- Design and develop new fixtures using CREO to support manufacturing processes
- Create 2D layouts using AutoCAD for production floor and equipment planning
- Lead and support manufacturing engineering projects from concept through implementation
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost
- Support new product launches including fixture design, cell layout, and process validation
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions
- Apply lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering teams
- Assist with documentation, work instructions, and training as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related Engineering field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong 3D CAD experience (CREO required)
- Experience with 2D CAD (AutoCAD preferred) for layouts
- Proven experience designing fixtures involving pneumatics, hydraulics, and electric motors
- Experience implementing lean manufacturing principles
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Experience with process improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.)
- Background in equipment design or automation
- Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI)
