Field Service Technician-Mechanical
Job Description
- When not traveling, techs prep for upcoming projects and assist with upcoming custom builds/tests at the Rolling Meadows facility. (45-50 hours/week)
- Travel Bonuses of $50 per day
- Company credit card for all meals and travel expenses
- Will average 45-50 hours/week when not traveling, 50-60 payable hours when traveling
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment at the customer’s facility and make the necessary adjustments to bring equipment up to running status
- Resolve service requirements over the phone if possible
- Work with suppliers to resolve technical issues at customer sites
- Make recommendations to repair/replace only items that require repair/replacement
- Follow customer’s plant and safety regulations while at their facility
- Complete in detail a Service Report for the services provided in a timely manner
- Make follow-up calls with the customer to verify that the problem has been resolved or organize future calls should the need be required.
- Facilitate warranty/non-warranty claims with the customer
- Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures
- Maintain International Standardization Organization (ISO) standards
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a hands-on mechanical/electrical environment
- Ability to travel for weeks at a time, 75% maximum yearly travel.
- Must be able to work in a multi-disciplined engineering environment, often under pressure-filled conditions
- Must have experience in dealing with customers to resolve problems
- The ability to read drawings, reference manuals, and assembly systems instruction guides is essential
- Must have experience and be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Requires excellent interpersonal and commercial skills
- Must be eligible and able to travel domestically & internationally within 30 days from hire date, as this is an essential job function
- Ability to read, speak, write, & understand English
