Location: Remote (Preferably in the East Coast or Midwest & Must be near a major airport)
Hire Type: Full-time

Role Summary: The Field Service Engineering Specialist for Electric Actuation & Digital Products is a key customer-facing role within the digital products and automation engineering team. This engineer supports electric actuation activities for all digital products interfacing with third-party host control systems. Responsibilities include servicing, troubleshooting, and commissioning customer network installations with expertise in network protocols such as HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, and connectivity with host systems like ABB, Emerson, Honeywell, and more. This position requires extensive travel and the ability to live close to a major airport.
Key Responsibilities:
- Combine technical knowledge with relationship management skills to execute global strategies, including Red Raven and VALVESIGHT, aimed at increasing profitability within the Service and Solutions Group.
- Utilize diagnostic capabilities in troubleshooting, analyzing, inspecting, and addressing compatibility issues between digital products and customer control systems (DCS, SIS, PLC).
- Train end users and support personnel in network troubleshooting and commissioning, using the right tools to resolve network and communication issues.
- Engage junior engineers in field support cases and provide regular training to build collective expertise in product and network communication protocols.
- Assist customers in designing new applications, migrating from older technology, and upgrading solutions across industries such as Oil & Gas, Power, Chemical, Water/Wastewater, and Mining.
- Provide external and internal technical assistance and recommendations on digital network interoperability with host control systems.
- Understand and utilize diagnostic systems for predictive and preventative maintenance, interpreting scripted diagnostics.
- Support sales and application engineering by providing pre-sales digital control application assistance, spec reviews, product selection, and proof of concept demos.
- Actively engage with customers to ensure their needs (Voice of the Customer) are communicated to product management, and provide competitor performance feedback for competitive benchmarking.
- Promote and support a positive safety culture to maintain a safe work environment.
Qualifications:
- Education: MS or BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Chemical, or related engineering field, or 5+ years of experience in Industrial Networks in lieu of a degree.
- Experience: 5 to 10 years as a technical problem solver with experience in systems and networks (DCS, SIS, AMS), including the integration of actuation, valves, and instruments.
- Proven experience in industrial digital communication with a history of device commissioning.
- Fluency in English (verbal, reading, and writing) is required.
- Strong understanding of fluid flow in process control environments, including tuning flow loops.
- Ability to articulate digital and mechanical concepts and provide value-driven recommendations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Instrumentation and process control elements in a flow loop (PID control, flowmeters, sensors, transmitters, valves, analog and digital communications, DCS, PLC, and asset management systems).
- Extensive knowledge of digital communication protocols – HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Modbus, and FDT/DTM technology.
- Familiarity with major DCS and Asset Management Systems (Emerson DeltaV/AMS, Yokogawa Centum VP/PRM, Honeywell Experion/FDM).
- Proficiency in using FDT Frames, PACTware, FieldMate, and FieldCare.
- Skilled in the installation, removal, and startup of digital products, including software installations.
- Strong understanding of technical designs, engineering drawings, and schematics.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Experience with wireless communication in an industrial environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of key electric actuation competitors (e.g., Rotork, Auma, EIM, Coester) is beneficial
