Sterling Engineering is partnering with a global leader in electrical engineering and renewable energy solutions, to bring on a Field Service Engineer in Milwaukee, WI. This is a unique opportunity to support cutting-edge solar and storage technologies across North America. Their headquarters specializes in renewable energy solutions, including wind power generators, converters, and solar power inverters.
Job Duties:
- Travel to customer sites (25–75% depending on time of year) to perform equipment commissioning.
- Lead commissioning efforts and direct Ingeteam and subcontractor personnel on-site.
- Troubleshoot solar & storage inverters independently; upload firmware and use software to diagnose systems.
- Provide technical training and customer support during and after commissioning.
- Document commissioning reports and submit to management.
- Coordinate with site/project managers on schedules and resource allocation.
- Respond to technical support inquiries via phone, email, and site visits (travel 25–50%).
- Lead troubleshooting of inverters and related systems at assigned project sites.
- Train and guide customers and internal technicians during service visits.
- Maintain technical documentation, analyze failure trends, and provide product improvement feedback to R&D.
- Manage return of failed equipment and support post-sales communication.
- Maintain and repair returned materials from customers.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with company’s quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- Attend internal training and remain up to date on all Ingeteam systems and tools.
- Complete and submit expense reports and maintain accurate service documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- 3+ years’ experience in electronics or power electronics required.
- Experience with PV & storage system installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting preferred.
- Strong electrical background; ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Familiarity with UL1741, IEEE1547, and NEC codes related to PV installations preferred.
- Advanced troubleshooting and technical communication skills.
- Experience supporting customers remotely and on-site.
- Knowledge of Modbus TCP/RTU, CAN protocols, and inverter system registers.
- Advanced computer proficiency including MS Office, monitoring systems, and remote tools.
- Physically able to lift up to 60 lbs., work at heights, climb ladders, and work in extreme weather conditions.
