Job Description
Title: Facilities Specialist | 2nd Shift
Location: Romeoville. IL
Key Accountabilities
Inspecting, diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the building and grounds of a food processing facility, including HVAC equipment and office facilities, within a USDA production environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform all assigned work while adhering to established standards for workmanship and safety.
- Ensure the safe and dependable operating condition of all tools and equipment in the facility.
- Assist with testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical equipment, including motors, starters, relays, timers, panels, breakers, conduit, and wiring (110/230/460 volt).
- Adhere to established safety programs (e.g., lockout/tagout, ladder safety).
- Communicate effectively at all levels within the maintenance and operating departments.
- Provide rapid response to equipment malfunctions or breakdowns.
- Maintain the building in compliance with city and fire regulations.
- Fix leaking pipes, hoses, and sinks; perform minor plumbing repairs.
- Scrape and paint fixtures.
- Change light bulbs and lighting fixtures.
- Assist in facility repairs as directed by management.
- Fulfill work orders for other departments.
- Troubleshoot minor electrical problems in the facility.
- Assist the wastewater department when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned or volunteered for.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Good language skills (verbal & written) to interpret procedures, comprehend instructions, and communicate effectively with others.
- Self-motivated, a self-starter, and able to work without close supervision in a team environment.
- Hardworking, dependable, safety, and quality-conscious.
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License preferred.
- High school degree or equivalent required.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and basic math.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems within a food (USDA or FDA) manufacturing environment.
- Available to work any shift as required.
- Able to stand or walk for long periods, bend and squat, walk around the facility, and lift at least 50 lbs.
- Proper and safe use of hand and power tools and working on machinery.
