Fabrication Estimator
Job Description
- Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze Requests for Quote (RFQs), technical drawings, and specifications to prepare accurate quotations for metal fabrication projects.
- Utilize ERP software and establish rate tables to calculate costs, considering materials, purchased items, fabrication processes, and time requirements.
- Collaborate with the Purchasing department to gather material costs and ensure accuracy.
- Partner with the Engineering team to optimize material usage and identify efficient fabrication methods.
- Coordinate with the Production department to establish fabrication rates and explore various options.
- Maintain records of estimate quality, timeliness, and win/loss ratios, ensuring customer satisfaction and competitiveness.
- Evaluate and recommend updated work center rates and rate tables for improved accuracy.
- Conduct regular reviews of job costings to validate estimate accuracy and refine the estimating process.
- Seek feedback from the Production team to enhance estimating accuracy and efficiency.
- Generate specialized reports by analyzing information and trends to support decision-making.
- Contribute to team efforts by assisting in the Estimating department and other departments, such as Production, as needed.
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience in metal fabrication.
- Proficiency in reading metal fabrication blueprints and interpreting specifications and tolerances.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure precision in calculations and estimations.
- Effective communication skills for interactions with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of various metal fabrication processes and techniques.
