Engineering Manager
100% Onsite Position - Scottsdale, AZ
Target Starting Salary: $100,000 - $130,000/year
No Direct Reports - Less than 5% travel

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, driven, and energetic Engineering Manager to lead and oversee engineering teams in the design, development, and delivery of custom, heavy, mobile automation solutions. This role requires a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, capable of balancing leadership, technical expertise, and project management to ensure the successful execution of engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
  • Assign projects and tasks, balancing workloads and ensuring timely delivery of objectives.
  • Recruit, onboard, and train engineering staff as needed.
Project Oversight:
  • Oversee design and engineering processes from concept through production, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, production teams, and clients to define requirements, set timelines, and allocate resources.
  • Monitor project progress, addressing technical challenges and providing guidance to resolve issues.
Technical Expertise:
  • Provide high-level input on designs, including mechanical, electrical, and software components of automation systems.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements, tools, and technologies to implement best practices.
  • Review and approve engineering documentation, including SolidWorks models, schematics, and technical reports, and
  • SolidWorks PDM implementation and administration experience.
Quality & Compliance:
  • Ensure all engineering outputs meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures for design, development, and testing.
Strategic Planning:
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in engineering processes, tools, and team capabilities.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align engineering efforts with business goals.

Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering field (master’s preferred).
Experience:
  • 15+ years of experience in engineering within automation or manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Proven track record in oversight of custom automation design, contracting, assembly, and commissioning.
  • Formative experience with robotics systems and implementation.
  • Heavy mobile industrial equipment experience is a plus.
Skills:
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Comfortable with managing multiple competing priorities.
  • Exceptional at oversight and control of engineering processes in fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM experience.
  • PLC programming knowledge.
