Job Description
Our client, a leader in the injection molding and plastics industry, is seeking a dynamic Director of Engineering to join their team. This role offers strong visibility over continuous improvement initiatives, new product development (NPD), and manufacturing engineering. The company is in a strong position and aims to elevate their NPD products to new heights. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering and manufacturing teams, ensuring processes are optimized for efficiency and quality.
- Direct the New Product Development (NPD) process, from concept through commercialization, ensuring products meet market demands and customer expectations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the successful launch of NPD projects, maintaining alignment with company goals and timelines.
- Implement and manage lean manufacturing principles to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
- Develop and mentor the engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Partner with manufacturing engineering to ensure that all new products are designed for manufacturability, with an emphasis on cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to engineering and manufacturing processes, using data-driven insights to guide decision-making and improvements.
- Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in injection molding and plastics technology, applying relevant innovations to the company’s processes and products.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Industrial, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience ( preferably in the injection molding and plastics industry), with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record in leading continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Strong experience with New Product Development (NPD) and bringing products from concept to market
