ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
These are functions a qualified incumbent or applicant must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation.
  1. Develop specifications and drawings for assigned projects including design calculations.
  2. Develop project objectives, estimates and responsibilities by reviewing client requirements, project proposals and plans, and conferring with the Program Manager, Project Manager and client representatives.
  3. Design gas pipelines, metering facilities, and pressure regulation stations, gas compression facilities, liquid pump stations, gas processing, dehydration, heaters, filter separators, and slug catchers.
  4. Design pipeline and station pressure tests, new pipeline installations, pipeline replacements, new station installations, and station rebuilds/modifications.
  5. Design hydrostatic tests for pipeline segments that require a valid strength test to establish the maximum allowable operating pressure (MAOP) of the pipeline.  Review historical documents, verify prescribed test boundaries and identify potential hydrotest obstacles.  
  6. Responsible for pipe sizing calculations, control valve and regulator sizing, valve actuator sizing, hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure test procedures, general hydraulic design and calculations, interactions with regulatory and permitting agencies as well as other pipeline and station engineering support.
  7. Specify materials and equipment for purchase, using data sheets when required. Write equipment specifications for purchase when required.
  8. Control project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and status reports. Plan and schedule changes; recommending actions to ensure project stays on-time and on-budget while meeting client specifications.
  9. Ensure project compliance with appropriate government regulations, safety rules, and company and client policies.
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  1. Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.  
  2. At least 4 years of professional experience. Experience in oil & gas/utility industry preferred.
  3. Thorough knowledge of P&ID’s.
  4. Experience with gas compression and processing facilities along with related equipment including pumps, compressors, dehydration units, heaters, filter separators, and pressure vessels is preferred.
  5. Good knowledge of industry codes and standards ASME/ANSI/API/NFPA/CSA codes (ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, 49 CFR 192 & 195).
