Electronics Lab Engineer
Job Description
- Test Setup Design – work with senior research engineers to scope, develop and build custom test setups for lab experiments including but not limited to test hardware (e.g. National Instruments, Raspberry Pi, or custom PCBs), test software (e.g. embedded controls and LabView), wire harnessing, and data acquisition systems.
- Lab Experiments – independently or under the guidance of senior engineers, perform laboratory experiments supporting company's research projects.
- Data Analysis – analyze experimental data to identify trends and collaborate with research team to draw meaningful conclusions from the test results.
- Debugging – troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during custom test equipment development and lab experimentation.
- Collaboration – work in a cross-functional team environment including electronics lab technicians and experienced team of researchers to deliver research test equipment needs.
- Create custom test hardware including platforms such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and/or National Instruments
Qualifications:
- Associates degree required in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), Computer Engineering, or similar field.
- Strong understanding of electronics, circuits, and basic principles of electrical engineering.
- Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, multimeters and soldering stations.
- Experience coding test software including embedded controls, Raspberry Pi, and/or LabView.
- Ability to run complex lab experiments and capture necessary test data.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with schematic and PCB layout tools, such as KiCad or Altium, a plus.
