Sterling Engineering is representing a leading manufacturer of industrial equipment and systems that serves a variety of industries nationwide. The company is seeking a skilled Electrician to join its production team in University Park, IL. This hands-on role involves assembling, wiring, and testing electrical components and systems used in high-performance industrial products. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and eager to contribute to a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, install, and repair electrical components and systems based on engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Work with voltages ranging from 480V to 5V, performing accurate measurements of current, resistance, and amperage.
  • Fabricate and wire control panels, enclosures, and cable assemblies according to specifications.
  • Perform wire runs, wire labeling, and wire crimping using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Measure, cut, and route cables accurately to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Support equipment testing, Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), and certification processes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including shop paperwork, ECRs, NCRs, and OFIs as required.
  • Participate in LEAN initiatives and continuous improvement programs to enhance shop efficiency and quality.
  • Follow all shop safety practices and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and manlifts as required for job duties.
  • Assist with occasional off-site installations or service as needed (up to 10% domestic travel).
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in electrical systems preferred.
  • 2+ years of electrical experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical panel building, wiring, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with electrical diagnostic instruments (digital voltmeters, micrometers, etc.).
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to electrical safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to comply with company fleet policies.
