About the Opportunity
An engineering consulting organization is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer with expertise in Extra High Voltage (EHV) substations to support complex power infrastructure projects up to 765kV. This role combines technical leadership, detailed design, and EPC project support, with opportunities to mentor team members and support business growth.
Job Duties
• Lead or support EHV substation projects (500kV–765kV) in detailed design and EPC execution.
• Develop protection & control deliverables including relay schemes, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Produce physical design packages including yard layouts, grounding, lightning protection, and control building arrangements.
• Prepare single-line, three-line, AC/DC schematics, and auxiliary power system designs.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of substation design packages and ensure compliance with engineering standards.
• Prepare equipment specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM) for procurement and construction.
• Coordinate project activities with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support construction coordination, design reviews, and field verification activities.
• Manage design budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Support proposals, client engagement, and business development initiatives.
• Travel occasionally for project meetings, site visits, and design reviews.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of substation engineering experience.
• Experience with EHV substation design (500kV+), including physical and/or protection & controls.
• Knowledge of utility standards, electrical codes, and substation design practices.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Experience leading projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong technical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• 5+ years of substation engineering experience.
• Experience with EHV substation design (500kV+), including physical and/or protection & controls.
