Electrical Designer
Job Description
- Electrical Design & Modeling
- Create detailed electrical box assembly models in SolidWorks Electrical based on production team concepts.
- Develop wiring diagrams, layouts, schematics, and complete BOMs (Bills of Materials) for assemblies.
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, and serviceability.
- Collaboration with Production
- Partner with the production team to develop and refine first article electrical box layouts.
- Incorporate feedback from technicians and engineers into final designs.
- Supplier Support & Outsourcing
- Collaborate with purchasing to identify and qualify external suppliers for electrical assembly production.
- Provide technical documentation and support to suppliers during quoting and build stages.
- Review supplier questions, design clarifications, and deviations as needed.
- Manufacturing & Quality Support
- Inspect and evaluate electrical assemblies received from suppliers.
- Support root cause and continuous improvement efforts for electrical designs and assembly quality.
- Implement design updates or corrective actions based on production and field feedback.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks Electrical (required).
- Experience with electrical box design, wiring harnesses, and panel layouts.
- Understanding of electrical manufacturing processes, component selection, and BOM management.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to interface with production, suppliers, and purchasing.
- Hands-on mindset with a focus on practical, manufacturable solutions.
- Experience in outsourced electrical assembly production or supplier management.
- Familiarity with industrial control panels or thermal management systems.
- Knowledge of relevant UL, NEC, or industrial electrical standards.
