Job Summary:
The Design Engineer I is responsible for carrying out engineering design tasks under ongoing supervision. This role involves collaborating closely with senior engineers to gain technical guidance on standard engineering assignments..
 
Job Duties:
  • Applies technical expertise to designs, ensuring projects align with specifications.
  • Communicates challenges related to scope, cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Collaborates with Designers and Drafters to finalize design packages.
  • Develops familiarity with CAD programs and software analysis tools used in engineering design.
  • Assists in preparing basic designs or portions of larger projects, including calculations and drawings.
  • Takes the lead on discipline-specific designs for simple projects and supports more complex projects, performing basic technical analyses.
  • Engages with clients on a limited basis.
  • Understands and adheres to relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Communicates professionally and clearly, ensuring messages are timely and appropriate for the subject matter.
  • Identifies key information for communication to clients and stakeholders through team leads and project managers.
  • Reviews and self-checks work before submission, ensuring minimal errors, and participates in peer and quality control reviews.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET accredited university
  • Knowledge of Computer Aided Design or GIS Design is a plus
  • Strong work ethic with desire to work in a production environment
