Title: Drafter / Associate Drafter
Location: Remote (Must reside outside of New York, California, Hawaii, Connecticut, New Jersey, Oregon, and Missouri.)
Hire Type: Contract-to-Hire
Compensation: $20.00 - $24.00/hour (based on experience)

About the Opportunity: Sterling Engineering is seeking an Associate Drafter or Drafter to support natural gas infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career CAD professionals looking to grow their drafting skills while working alongside experienced engineering teams. In this role, you will assist with developing technical drawings, applying design markups, preparing plan sets, and supporting infrastructure projects using AutoCAD.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce accurate technical drawings for natural gas infrastructure projects.
- Interpret and apply engineering markups and revisions to project drawings.
- Prepare and annotate plan sets according to client and company standards.
- Trace existing data and develop base maps to support project designs.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure timely and accurate project deliverables.
- Follow drafting standards, quality procedures, and company operating practices.
- Complete assignments on schedule while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Qualifications:
Associate Drafter
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Currently enrolled in a CAD certificate or degree program.
- No prior CAD experience required.
Drafter
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completed CAD certificate or degree program.
- 0–5 years of drafting or CAD experience.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and accept feedback.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
Software:
- AutoCAD (preferred)
- Microsoft Office Suite
Schedule:
- Fully Remote
