Type: Direct Hire
Pay Range: $75,000 - $85,000 (Depending on Experience)

Sterling Engineering is a leading provider of automation and machine tools, specializing in delivering innovative solutions to our clients. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Documentation Team Lead to join our team at our Schaumburg, IL location.

Position Overview:
As a Documentation Team Lead, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the creation of documentation packages for a diverse range of automation and machine tools. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field, with a solid understanding of automation and/or heavy equipment.

Responsibilities:
Oversee Completion of Customer Documentation:
Ensure the accurate and timely completion of all documentation provided to customers.
Collaborate with engineers to compile comprehensive documentation for machinery delivered to customers.

Supervise Documentation Team:
Manage and lead a documentation team, including technical draftsmen/drawing editors and potential future technical writers.
Provide guidance and support to the team to ensure high-quality documentation output.

Communication and Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with customers, Felsomat department managers, and other team members to garner support and address documentation-related needs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline the documentation process.

Technical Proficiency:
Utilize SolidEdge, AutoCad, and Bloxedia software to complete required documentation tasks.
Upload completed documents into the SAP database for easy access and retrieval.

Customer Specification Compliance:
Study automotive customer specifications related to documentation to ensure that our deliverables meet and exceed expectations.

Support and Flexibility:
Provide support to other roles within the Documentation Department as needed.
Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field is strongly preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, with a background in apps, design, or project engineering.
Technical Skills: Solid understanding of automation and/or heavy equipment. Proficiency in SolidEdge, AutoCad, and Bloxedia software.
