Job Description

Title: Distribution Engineering Designer
Location: Raleigh. NC
Hire Type: Contract-to-Hire (6–12 months)
Salary: $25–$35/hr

Sterling Engineering is looking for a Distribution Engineering Designer in Raleigh, NC. This opportunity is with a well-established engineering organization supporting utility distribution projects.

Job Duties:
  • Produce CAD electric distribution design drawings and bills of material.
  • Perform field data collection using standard tools, methods, and processes.
  • Support utility relocation, subdivision services, and service drop design.
  • Conduct audits of existing electrical distribution services.
  • Participate in scheduled safety meetings and follow safety procedures.
  • Utilize Maximo and other systems to support project execution.
Qualifications:
  • 4-year ABET-accredited Engineering degree.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in distribution design.
  • Experience supporting Duke Energy projects required.
  • Experience with utility relocation, subdivision services, and service design.
  • FE certification may substitute for 6 months of experience.
  • Active PE license preferred (may substitute for 2 years of experience).
  • Strong technical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work onsite.
