Job Description
Title: Distribution Engineer
Location: Maitland, FL
Hire Type: Direct hire
Compensation: $43-62/hour

- Design and develop overhead and underground distribution systems (4 kV – 35 kV typical).
- Prepare construction work packages including staking sheets, material lists, cost estimates, and drawings.
- Perform distribution system studies (voltage drop, load flow, fault current, coordination).
- Support new service installations, system upgrades, and reliability improvements.
- Ensure compliance with NESC, NEC, utility standards, and local/state regulations.
- Coordinate with internal teams (planning, operations, protection & control) and external stakeholders (municipalities, contractors, developers).
- Review and approve contractor designs and construction activities.
- Support storm hardening, underground conversion, and grid modernization projects.
- Participate in field visits, inspections, and troubleshooting activities as needed.
- Provide technical support during outage restoration efforts when required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related engineering discipline).
- 3–10 years of experience in electric utility distribution engineering.
- Experience with overhead and underground distribution design.
- Familiarity with 2D design software
- Knowledge of NESC, NEC, and Florida utility regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida or ability to obtain.
- Working knowledge of GIS platforms and SAP or similar asset management systems.
