Director of Structural Engineering
Job Description
The Director of Structural Engineering is a key leadership position responsible for driving client development, overseeing strategic initiatives, and managing the Structural Team. This role involves identifying and pursuing new client opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients. As a key leader, the Director will act as the Principal in Charge for select accounts and provide solutions to project challenges as they arise.
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
- Licensed as a Structural Engineer
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience preparing responses to detailed requests for proposals (RFPs) and high-quality marketing materials
- Proactive and assertive problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

- Contribute to the company’s leadership team to address firm-wide challenges and help shape strategic direction.
- Work with firm leaders and Project Managers to ensure effective staff resource allocation for projects.
- Serve as Principal in Charge (PIC) for select clients to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Assess and evaluate business opportunities, providing professional recommendations to the Executive Team.
- Provide input on staffing levels and recommend hiring or termination decisions as needed.
- Lead the interview process for assigned new hires.
- Supervise assigned team members, conducting regular performance reviews and professional development planning.
- Allocate project resources effectively for assigned teams.
- Design and implement a staff training and development plan.
- Recommend salary adjustments and bonuses for assigned staff.
- Implement Personal Improvement Plans (PIPs) when necessary.
- Participate in executive and operational leadership discussions to help guide the firm’s direction.
