Job Description
JOB Title: Design Engineer Specialist
This position is responsible for performing engineering design on a variety of engineering tasks with ongoing supervision. The Design Specialist receives technical guidance on new design topics that have not been experienced by the Design Specialist. The Design Specialist will work closely with other senior engineers on typical engineering assignments tasks which are not familiar to the Design Specialist.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop creative and innovative design concepts for various projects, to include websites, mobile applications, marketing collateral, logos, packaging, and advertising materials
· Collaborate with clients and or stakeholders to understand their brand identify and translating it into visually consistent and impactful designs to convey the desired message
· Utilize graphic design software and tools to create high-quality visuals, illustrations, icons, and layouts that align with the project objectives and target audience
· Conduct user research and analysis to understand user needs, preferences, behaviors, and integrating those insights in the design process to create intuitive and user-friendly interfaces
· Apply typography principles and design layouts that optimize readability, visual hierarchy, and aesthetics, ensuring the design elements are well-organized and balance
· Adhere to brand guidelines and design standards while ensuring consistency in visual elements, colors, fonts, and imager across different platforms and media
· Work closely with cross-functional teams, to include marketing, development, and content creation, to ensure effective communication and coordination during design process
· Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and maintain project documentation
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, fine arts or a related field
· 3+ years utility design
· Basic CAD skills preferred
· GIS experience preferred
· Proficient in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Sketch, or other relevant tools
· Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design work, to include examples of branding, digital design, typography, and layout
