Job Description
- Develop a rolling 3-6-month Master Production Plan for purchased and manufactured parts, considering production capacity, sales forecasts, customer ship dates, and new product development. Communicate schedules monthly.
- Facilitate communication among internal, external, and global teams to analyze and identify risks associated with the master production plan, including manufacturing lead times.
- Perform supply-demand analysis each quarter, highlighting areas of concern for the next 12 months.
- Make delivery commitments on MTO (Made to Order) products, verifying material availability and capacity.
- Set inventory targets and manage production using an MRP system to achieve targeted inventory levels, while optimizing efficiencies and minimizing inventory investment.
- Ensure coordination with Planners to execute the Production Plan on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Monitor actual versus planned production and identify gaps, driving solutions to align production with the requested schedule.
- Review sales forecasts with the plant and sales group on a monthly basis, suggesting modifications based on current or historical demand.
- Report key metrics to plant leaders, including project progress and associated barriers.
- Support projects and production meetings to review dispatch reports and performance against the schedule, inventory strategy, and supply plans. Update the Master Production Plan as needed.
- Monitor on-time performance and identify root causes for past due orders, implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, Materials, and Operations to schedule the production of large custom projects, ensuring complete and up-to-date project documentation.
- Proactively communicate with customers and suppliers to resolve issues that may impact shipping schedules.
- Bachelor's degree in a business or technical field.
- Minimally 5+ years of experience in purchasing and planning within a manufacturing environment
- Minimally 2+ years experience managing direct reports
