Overview: Sterling Engineering/Staffing is currently looking for a Database Specialist for one of our clients in the La Grange, IL area. Sterling has a rich history of delivering top talent to our clients. We are a nationwide Staffing Firm with over 100 clients and works primarily with Fortune 1000 corporations.
 
Hourly Rate: $40-45/hr

Job Description:
Administration of engineering database tools to improve the efficiency of the engineering department. Work with business departments to develop and support reporting for business users by transforming raw data into meaningful insights.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the Client Specifications Database (Homegrown Oracle Database)
  • Work with existing developer team on platform migration and addition of new functionality
  • Maintenance of client master models
  • Drive new client model and repower/modernization specs into the client database
  • Utilize SharePoint to manage and organize engineering department homepage
  • Perform data analysis on ERP systems including LN and SAP, project planning scheduling system
  • Develop PowerBI reports for use in project analysis and management reporting
  • Engage and interact with business users to identify requirements and develop documents for the reporting needs of the business
  • Engage and interact with business users to troubleshoot and resolve reporting issues
  • Escalate top priority, production-critical issues to the appropriate support staff
  • Make recommendations of perceived solutions to potential problem areas and methods for improvement
  • Communicate effectively and perform other tasks as assigned
Education and Training:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • Minimum 1-3 years Business Intelligence experience
  • Direct experience with BI/Reporting tools
  • Direct experience with ERP systems, preferably LN and/or SAP
  • Direct experience with data analysis and database administration
  • Direct experience with business requirements development and analysis
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Excel, Word; familiarity with SharePoint preferred
Qualifications and Experience:
  • BI and Reporting application experience
  • Database and OS / systems experience
  • Experience with issue tracking and project management software
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well with all levels of management
