Cost Accounting Supervisor
Job Description
Location: Chesapeake, VA 23323
- Manage the regional cost accounting team, ensuring proper prioritization and planning of team activities, responsibilities, and accountabilities.
- Identify process inefficiencies and bottlenecks, propose and implement improvements for team and workflow optimization.
- Support the Regional Accounting Manager and Finance Business Partners with calculating standards, rates, and costing impacts on product cost.
- Oversee inventory accounting, including cycle count audits, variance identification and registration, classification of inventory and materials, and purchasing rates verification.
- Research and resolve complex cost model issues; provide guidance to the Finance Business Partner organization, including margin analysis and supporting special costing projects.
- Analyze root causes of cost model or finance issues and recommend policy or process changes for improvements.
- Participate in Project Status Reviews to identify incurred costs for accurate revenue accounting records and calculations for both Percentage-of-Completion and Point-in-Time projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 5-7 years of relevant experience.
- Strong technical accounting skills and experience in:
- Month-end reporting
- Project accounting, including monthly margin reviews and processing
- Sales and margin analysis
- Processing and approving month-end journals
- Balance sheet reconciliation preparation and approval
- Data analysis for manufacturing and cost management
