Title: Staff Accountant (Costing Focus)
Location: Taneytown, MD 21787
Pay Rate: $30.00–$34.00/hour
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Hire Type: Contract (6 months, possible extension)

Sterling Engineering is partnering with a manufacturing company to bring on a Staff Accountant with a strong focus on cost accounting. This role supports plant operations through cost analysis, inventory tracking, and financial reporting tied to production. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and analyze inventory and cost data
  • Monitor production costs, labor, and overhead
  • Support month-end close and journal entries
  • Perform variance analysis and identify cost savings opportunities
  • Partner with operations on budgeting and forecasting
  • Assist with inventory valuation and reporting accuracy
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong Excel and ERP system experience
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
