Controls Technician
Job Description
- 3 to 5 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician in an industrial/manufacturing environment
- Experience installing VFDs and setting parameters based on existing systems
- Familiarity with Ethernet and DeviceNet protocols for machine device communication (PLC to drives, HMI, Remote I/O, etc.)
- Experience with HMIs, preferably Rockwell Automation software and FactoryTalk View Studio
- Understanding of PLCs, particularly Allen-Bradley and Omron, with the ability to connect and troubleshoot ladder logic, as well as knowledge of safety PLC hardware and software organization
- Proficiency in running and bending conduit (EMT and Rigid, up to 1”)
- Experience operating scissor lifts and/or boom lifts
- Knowledge of 480VAC Bus plugs and Busway systems
- Ability to use all functions of basic electrical multimeters
- Experience using an analog or digital megohmmeter for motor insulation testing
- Must have a personal basic tool set (including a multimeter, wrenches, screwdrivers, wire strippers, pliers, cutters, etc.)
- Ability to read industrial electrical schematics for diagnosing machine issues and panel wiring
- Experience installing 24VDC sensors such as proximity, photo-electric, limit switches, and pressure/vacuum transducers
- Competence in working with 3-phase motors, inverters, and servos, with AC and DC control circuit troubleshooting skills
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and at elevated heights (inside/on top of machinery, pits, ladders, etc.)
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
- Ability to collaborate with mechanical personnel to resolve issues
