Job Summary:
  • We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician to join our food manufacturing team. As a Controls Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and control systems within our production environment. Your expertise in PLCs, VFDs, pneumatics, and hydraulics will ensure the smooth operation of our equipment and processes, ultimately contributing to the production of high-quality food products.

Job Duties:
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on electrical and control systems in a food manufacturing facility.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues related to PLCs, VFDs, motor controls, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Collaborate with maintenance team members to identify and address equipment failures or malfunctions.
  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
  • Install, program, and integrate new control systems and automation equipment into existing processes.
  • Conduct testing and calibration of control devices, ensuring accurate measurement and control of critical process parameters.
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to implement process improvements and optimize efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, promoting a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in control systems, recommending innovative solutions to enhance productivity and reliability.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Collaborate with external vendors or contractors for specialized repairs or system upgrades.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Controls Technician in a food manufacturing or similar industrial setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, motor controls, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Familiarity with HMI (Human Machine Interface) systems and industrial communication protocols.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve control system issues efficiently.
  • Proficient in reading electrical and control system schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance practices and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety procedures and protocols.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or overtime to support maintenance activities or respond to emergencies.
