JOB TITLE: Controls Service Technician 

Pay Range: $65-$85k per year depending on experience.

JOB SUMMARY: The Controls Service Technician is responsible for repairing and servicing equipment and machinery at customer facilities for both warranty and non-warranty issues. They are also responsible for developing and programming automated equipment hardware and software according to customer and internal specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Commission and start up controls systems of new machines, retrofits, refurbishments, and small upgrades
  • Troubleshoot program and electrical equipment at the customer’s facility and make the necessary adjustments to bring equipment up to running status
  • Resolve service requirements over the phone if possible
  • Work with suppliers to resolve technical issues at customer sites
  • Travel to both domestic and international customer locations
  • Make recommendations to repair/replace only items that require repair/replacement
  • Follow customer’s plant and safety regulations while at their facility
  • Complete in detail a Service Report for the services provided in a timely manner
  • Make follow-up calls with the customer to verify that the problem has been resolved or organize future calls should the need be required
  • Facilitate warranty/non-warranty claims with the customer
  • Assist other department staff as defined by leadership
  • Upsell customers on additional scope when possible
  • Share field updates with engineering and ensure customer receives updated documentation where applicable
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred Degree in Electrical Engineering, engineering related field, or equivalent experience
  • Three (3) years of experience in a hands-on mechanical/electrical environment
  • Three (3) years of experience with traveling domestic and international
  • Must be familiar with and be able to use hand tools, voltage/pressure meters, measuring gauges and devices, robotic familiarity, and automation PLC capability via Allen Bradley and Siemens products
  • Must have experience in dealing with customers to resolve problems
  • The ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings, reference manuals and assembly systems instruction guides is essential
  • Must have experience and be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal and commercial skills required

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently
  • Visual acuity – Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens
  • Hearing ability – Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions
  • Capable of wearing appropriate related PPE for extended periods of time
