Location: West Chicago, IL
Hire Type: Contract to Direct Hire
Pay:$40-$50/hr.

The Project Engineer is responsible for preparing all required documents for the design and fabrication of control systems and assemblies. This includes programming PLCs, HMIs, motor drives, and servos, creating engineered quotations, interfacing with customers, and supporting field start-up activities. The role also involves coordinating with shop personnel, purchasing, and quality control to ensure design integrity and timely project completion.
Job Duties:
- Prepare quotations, calculate material and labor costs, and determine selling prices.
- Generate written proposals and sketches for project drawings.
- Prepare Bills of Materials and CAD drawings for projects.
- Develop PLC and HMI programs.
- Collaborate with shop personnel and purchasing on material acquisitions.
- Review and verify final documents for shipping or shipped orders.
- Support Quality Control activities to ensure panel design integrity.
- Communicate with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
- Transmit required documentation to customers and maintain proper records.
- Work with sales personnel to obtain orders.
- Perform field start-up activities, which may include electrical device installation and wiring.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required; BSEE preferred.
- 1+ year of on-the-job training; additional formal training as needed.
- Knowledge of AB/Rockwell PLC and HMI software, AutoCAD Lite & Electrical, and electrical test equipment.
- Understanding of NEC and UL 508A requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills, customer relations, and communication abilities.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities, follow directives, and maintain productivity.
