Controls Engineer-Siemens
Job Description
Salary: Up to $140,000
- Design, develop, and implement automation control systems using Siemens PLCs (TIA Portal, Step 7), HMIs, and distributed I/O.
- Create control architecture, functional specifications, and electrical documentation in collaboration with electrical and mechanical teams.
- Program, debug, and optimize PLC logic, motion control, HMI interfaces, and safety systems.
- Integrate a variety of automation technologies including robotics, servo systems, machine vision, sensors, and pneumatics.
- Support machine debug, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning.
- Troubleshoot electrical/control issues and provide effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with project management, mechanical engineering, and build teams to ensure system performance meets customer requirements.
- Prepare documentation including wiring diagrams, I/O lists, control logic descriptions, and operating procedures.
- Provide on-site customer support and training as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- 3+ years of experience with Siemens control platforms, including TIA Portal (Step 7, WinCC Flexible, and Siemens safety systems a plus).
- Strong knowledge of industrial networks: Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP.
- Experience integrating robotics (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, etc.) and motion control systems.
- Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with custom automation, high-speed assembly equipment, or machine building is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to travel for machine install, debug, and customer support (typically 10–20%).
