Job Description

A Senior Controls Engineer will take responsibility for the hardware and software design on projects under the direction of the Director of Engineering. It shall typically include, but not be limited to the following:
 
  1. Prepare control systems designs and utilize AutoCAD, prepare drawings which include power distribution, PLC, panel layouts, console layouts, pneumatics, hydraulics, and instrumentation.
  2. Write and document software.
  3. Help manage budgets and schedules. Work with the Project Manager to develop cost to complete and release dates.
  4. Work with the assembly department during the building phases of the project to provide efficient and timely solutions to problems.
  5. Help develop skills through collaboration with the rest of the Controls Department. This includes facilitating formal and informal training on products and software
  6. Help develop preliminary projects schedules
  7. After power-up, debug the software to ensure the system is “production worthy”.
  8. Participate as a team member during the installation phase of the project
  9. Desired Hardware Competency
    1. PLC - Allen Bradley: CompactLogix, ControlLogix,
    2. Secondary: SLC 500, PLC 5, MicroLogix. Siemens: 416 Square D: Symax 50.
    3. HMI - Allen Bradley: Panelview, Panelview Plus
    4. Secondary: Siemens: TP, OP Series.
    5. Communications - Allen Bradley Ethernet I/P,
    6. Secondary: ControlNet, DeviceNet, Siemens: Profibus.
    7. Variable Frequency Drives - Allen Bradley Powerflex,
    8. Secondary: SEW Eurodrive.
    9. Robotics - FANUC,
    10. Secondary: Epson, Yaskawa, Denso, Kuka, Kawasaki.
 
Required Education and Experience
  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering is desirable, or equivalent combination of education and experience,
  2. 7+ years’ experience in controls engineering related to custom automation.
  3. At least 3 years of design experience utilizing AutoCAD software required.
 
 Compensation: 100K-120K + based on experience, negotiable
