Shift: 1st Shift (Candidates will be able to flex hours with four 10 hour days and Fridays off available)
Hire Type: Direct Hire
Pay Rate: $84-100K+

Sterling Engineering is hiring a Controls Engineer for a highly stable, industry‑leading manufacturer known for technical innovation, hands‑on engineering collaboration, and strong long‑term career growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and specify electrical and control systems for industrial food-processing and automated equipment.
  • Program, test, and optimize PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and related control components.
  • Manage external contractors for control panel design and assembly, ensuring they meet technical and schedule requirements.
  • Lead custom equipment projects from quote through shipment and commissioning, working directly with customers to define requirements, timelines, and cost expectations.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to support installation, integration, and commissioning of new production lines.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with at least one year of manufacturing experience.
  • Strong experience with programming and applying PLCs, VFDs, and industrial control systems (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley strongly preferred).
  • Skilled in electrical design and interpreting wiring diagrams.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, DraftSight, or similar tools for electrical schematics.
  • Any food industry experience would be a plus
