Job Duties:
  • Responsible for assuring the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with the Accounting and Reporting Manual
  • The Controller plans, organizes, directs and controls, through subordinates, the financial reporting, accounting and general financial affairs.   
  • Maintenance of the accounting records in a timely, accurate and complete manner.
  • Develop and train the accounting staff to ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to in a consistent manner within, and that the financial reporting standards are applied consistently.  Reviews and assess areas of business risk within , and, develops policies to minimize or eliminate that risk where possible.
  • Ensure the safeguarding of company assets.
  • A variety of activities are performed directly by or under the close supervision of the Controller. These include:

  • Supervision of the accounting staff currently consisting of an accounts payable specialist and a staff accountant.
  • Functions as subject matter expert with respect to all accounting, accounting and financial processes, and the accounting, receipts and disbursement functions within the AX system.
  • Recommends changes to company processes, costing and pricing methodologies.
  • Approves new customer and new vendor setups in AX.
  • Reviews all contractual arrangements with customers.
Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary diploma or degree specializing in accounting, finance or equivalent.  
  • A professional financial designation such as CA, CPA, CMA or CGA is required.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a manufacturing, financial and cost accounting environment.
  • Individual must have an ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with people at all levels of the organization, both verbally and in written form. 
  • Experience with ERP/PC-based accounting systems and software tools are required. 
  • In addition, an ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance in a team-oriented work environment is mandatory. 
  • Strong analytical, financial and accounting skills as well as an ability to significantly contribute to the management of the division are keys. 
  • Computer knowledgeable with such programs as Windows, Excel, Word, MS Outlook, Adobe, etc.
  • Good knowledge of Sales Force a plus or other CRM experience.
  • Finally, person must be hands-on and must be able to meet deadlines for his or her responsibilities either directly or indirectly.
