Title: Packaging Engineer

Location: North Chicago, 60064

Type: On-site, 6–12-month contract

 

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Packaging Engineer to become an integral part of our client's team in Chicago, IL. As a Packaging Engineer for Continuous Improvement, you will be accountable for evaluating packaging operations and formulating action strategies to optimize processes and elevate Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) performance on packaging production lines.

 

Core Responsibilities:

 

  • Examine existing packaging procedures and machinery to discover potential enhancements in quality, efficiency, and cost management.
  • Design and execute action strategies for refining processes or equipment to reach the intended objectives.
  • Observe and scrutinize OEE production line performance, pinpoint the root causes of issues, and introduce corrective actions to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to propel process improvement initiatives, encompassing production, quality control, maintenance, and logistics.
  • Establish and uphold Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for packaging processes and equipment.
  • Coordinate training programs for operators and technicians to augment their knowledge and proficiency in packaging processes and equipment.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting, focusing on packaging processes and equipment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in evaluating processes, detecting improvement opportunities, and formulating action plans to attain desired outcomes.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma methodologies and techniques.
  • Outstanding communication, collaboration, and leadership qualities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Prior experience in the food or beverage industry is advantageous.
