Construction Estimator - EPC
Job Description
- Determine and quantify cost factors, including production time, materials, and labor expenses.
- Visit jobsites to gather details on required materials, labor needs, and other relevant factors.
- Review blueprints and technical documents to prepare accurate estimates.
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, procurement teams, and subcontractors to create constructability plans and cost estimates.
- Consult with industry experts and management to discuss estimates and address any issues.
- Utilize computer software, primarily Excel and Bluebeam, to calculate and generate estimates.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the utilities or construction industry is highly preferred.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management, along with five years of experience in medium and high voltage electrical substation and transmission construction, or a combination of education and experience that shows the ability to perform the required tasks.
- Strong skills in reading, interpreting, and analyzing electrical construction drawings and specifications.
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards, procedures, and current market trends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- Previous medium and high voltage electrical construction experience
- Knowledge, experience and ability to estimate EPC (Engineer, Procure, Construct) type projects.
- Knowledge, experience, and ability to estimate related types of work such as electrical and civil substation construction and distribution and transmission line construction, etc.
